This morning, I Farked my way over to this story about British Tea Cakes. The tea cakes, which appear to be nothing more than British mallomars, have been re-categorized from biscuits to cake. Far be it from me to dispute the accumulated wisdom of the EU high courts, but from this American vantage point if it looks like a cookie and tastes like a cookie, perhaps the tea cake actually is a cookie -- and not a cake. I consulted TUAW's in-residence Britishness expert Nik, who threw up his hands and asked (justifiably) whether this was actually related to Apple or its products.

Free any iPhone from the bonds of AT&T with ZiPHONE. This process is incredibly easy and I have upgraded my 1.1.1 all the way up to 1.1.4. I can use any carrier I choose and install applications from the installer menu. I performed this process on a 4GB iPhone I purchased the day they came out in 2007. I had no issues with the update and it took less than 15 minutes total. This walk through is for Mac users however, I am sure there are similar tutorials for Windows users.

In a survey of iPhone owners, Rubicon Consulting found that a third of iPhone users carry a second phone in addition to their iPhone. I’m one of those folks: I have a T-Mobile phone that I use for personal calls; I use my iPhone as a business phone and for mobile Web and email. I didn’t want to break my T-Mobile contract and I’m happy paying for a second phone to keep work and home separate. I didn’t think I was the only one with two phones, but 33 percent seems surprisingly high. Here’s something the survey didn’t tell you, but you might have guessed: iPhone users have lots of disposable income.

Pogo iPhone Stylus

pogo-iphone-stylus.jpg

In case you haven’t noticed the iPhone’s glassy touch sensitive screen is only sensitive to your stubby little fingers. This is because it uses a technology called capacitive touch which measures the flow of electrons through your skin. Problem is, last time we checked our fingers were pretty rounded and not too precise at picking out tiny URLs in Safari. Luckily the geniuses behind the Pogo iPhone Stylus have magically solved this problem by making a stylus that somehow tricks the iPhone into thinking it’s really a finger. What’s more, the tip of the stylus is a soft felt like material that has the added benefit of keeping your screen clean while you tap away. How do they do it? Frankly we’re not sure, but hopefully it doesn’t involve grave-robbing.
