    i actually washed my old cellphone in the washer by mistake…went through the whole cycle and everything. i just took it apart and let it air dry for about 1 day or so and it worked ok afterward also.

    I remember seeing a video about a company that created a special coating that can be applied to phones and laptops or any electronic equipment and still work while submerged in water. It req’d that you send the electronics to the company for application. I don’t remember all the details. It’s not uncommon for wet phones to work after it completely drys. Nevertheless, it is amazing that your phone still worked. Good seal? coated? In any case, enjoy it and next time be a little more careful

    My uncle fell in a lake once with his iPhone in his pocket. I took a picture of him. After that it wouldn’t turn on anymore. The next day it was working again. Well almost it had a few bugs. It wouldn’t charge. And it got slower. Then it was charging again. It was still slow. Now some things are lacking.

     And that’s the amazing thing .. there is like REALLY big holes in the iPhone for example the earphone jack and the charger hole-thingy (I’m not english, so I’m not sure what it is exactly called).My teory on this one (not trying to un-amaze this .. because it is pretty crazy!) is that airbubbles shut out most of the water… You know .. the same way you can force a bucket (with the hole facing towards the water) under water without water actually getting inside the bucket.

     i accidentally placed my ipod in the washer before. (it was in my hoodie pocket, yes i guess i’m *stupid* for not checking the pockets but whatever) i didn’t notice it until it was time to place them in the dryer. at first i thought it was broken but after leaving it for a few hours, i was able to turn it on but there was water in the screen. it eventually *dried* out since it was gone the next day. it still works.

     My GF washed my iphone 3G through a whole cycle. It took it apart, dried it, and it came back to life…with a pale LCD, but the logic board is still as new. iPhones are tough little suckers/

     I KNOW HOW YOU FELT MAN!!Dropped my new 3gs in beer it didnt seem to work. Came on later the next day but the camera was all fogged up from the water damage. I sat it in a container of rice for a day (rice absorbs moisture) seemed to fix the problem with the lens. Gonna take it back to apple tommorow to see if I can convince them its defected and get it replaced

     haha, he was fast. Fun video, but not super amazing, just lucky. Electronics usually always work when dropped into water for at least a few mins and some times several hours to a day. It could have been a blackberry, a zune, gps etc. It’s always hours later, after the moisture works in that they usually fail or weird stuff happens to them. And it was saved in 9-10 secs with a rubber case to slow moisture down. But try it without case for a few more seconds and see what happens, lol.

     I meant electronics usually work when they are dropped in quickly and rescued, but then usually have trouble hours later unless the person was really fast like you were. Good fast thinking, lol. And then some times they have trouble anyway. It just didn’t get enough moisture to matter. A few seconds later without rubber cover and it would have been a goner. They make a samsung cell phone that is water proof. Hopefully they’ll make other brands eventually.

     His iphone working has nothing to do with quality. But I’m sure lots of ifans will think that. It’s not a water proof phone. The reason it still works is because he was very fast, 9 secs to get it out, and it had a cover as well. Samsung already has a water proof phone and so does casio. If they make the 4th gen iphone with water proofing that would be cool. Then you could carry one in the pool. But most people wouldn’t dare trying what he did for fun. Or for 20 seconds, lol.

My iPhone annoyed me after N95 – no removable battery (when it runs out your done, no swapping in a spare) no removable micro-SD card (when your memory is full, it’s full) and no “real” keypad (the glass screen took getting used to) & you can’t replace damaged casings (something I’d been doing over the years) but ..There are very few holes & no removable covers non-soapy water has a surface tension so will not penetrate small openings immediately – my iphone is tough too…

     I dropped my 3g in the toilet and snapped it out in a fraction of a second, it was completly, totaly & instantly worthless. When I took it in, the tech, looked in through the connector slot & could see a water damage indicator and told me ” it’s history”, water damage voids the warantee. I doubt if the 3GS is different.

     Electronic devices are cleaned with a water-based solvent during manufacture. So as long as you dry it out fully…Too bad the battery isn’t removable on an iPhone. I’d expect it to corrode, over time.

     yeah dropped my new iPod Classic 120GB down 1 story height off stairs once (fell outta my pocket) (oh and the bottom of the stairs is concrete) and amazingly it didnt even crack. Theres no data loss either which suggests that the hard drive is shock resistant. The only thing that scars my iPod is a little scratch on the bottom left corner lol

     Android is better, iPhone OS is crap. with android phones. All your paying for is the hardware. Android is free, open source! And it works with Windows and mac and Linux, It doesn’t need to be plugged into a computer in order to install upgrades, cuz it just downloads them right on the phone. iPhone is a locked system and its only icons, theres no widgets or a notifications bar at the top.       I dropped my 3G in the sink a couple weeks ago while brushing my teeth it works perfect till this day! (my sink clogs and feels up) I know the pressure wasn’t much but still it was in there for about 4 secs which is enough for water to seep in and EVERYONEEE said I would drop it once and the screen would be demolished hahahaha proved them wrong I have dropped it on cement and tile severalllll times hard and nope nothing is different!!

      You know that you’re really lucky that your iPhone still works! I don’t have an iPhone myself, i got a Mac instead. But I know that iPhones are really sensitive to it’s surroundings such as water, snow, extreme heat, etc. You don’t often get to see and hear inside a pool with a video camera, especially the iPhone!! lol.

      When my Dash died on me, I drowned it in the sink, it took about a minute under water for the water to eventually get inside and short it out, and the screen and keypad went out. So phones are pretty durable, eventually the water does get inside though. I know someone that dropped their phone in the toilet, still worked, though the water effected the phone, and it called me, I heard under water sounds and was like WTF?

      Sure it worked for a few more minutes and then died ….but if you turn it off and put it in raw rice for a week then it will work even though it might give you a few glitches here and there.
