Geohot to Release Blacksn0w for Baseband Unlocking On November 4 (video)

New Geohot jailbreak update to jailbreak via baseband unlockingEarlier last week, we had written about a new update released by Geohot to his Blackra1n iPhone jailbreaking tool that shall help users on iPhone OS 3.1.X to jailbreak their iPhones. 

Back then however, Geohot had posted the following disclaimer:

“Warning 3g and 3gs unlockers, do not upgrade to 3.1.2 using iTunes if you want to keep your unlock. Baseband cannot be downgraded. Check out the dev team’s offerings. Also blackra1n doesn’t hacktivate”

If you are one of those looking for a method to unlock basebad 05.11.07 that was bundled from iPhone OS 3.1 onwards, then there is now reason to cheer. Geohot has revealed yet another impending update called Blacksn0w, that will enable iPhone users who have upgraded (in many cases accidentally) to baseband 05.11.07 to unlock of their iPhones and thus work over any GSM network.

Blacksn0w will be available for iPhone users from November 4 and like the previous updates, this one shall also be free. Also, hactivation shall be made available this time around.

    @aWoodenBoy i agree with you mate, but hackers like geohot should live with the rules in this world if sony sais not to mod their playstations then you dont. imaging if everyone was modding the ps3, sony would lose a lot of money cuz people get so pissed off with hacked games such as cod. in a way yeh i agree with geohot but then you have to look on sonys side also. and anonymous are pefetic protesting hackers they will find the little-list excuse to take and hack somthing down. dont trust them

    You people really have to read up on what really happened to the PSN. Geohot didn’t hack PSN’s servers, supposedly anonymous did in response to Sony’s treatment of Geohot in their current lawsuit. Geohot is standing up for your rights as a consumer to do what you want with your own products. If you want to mod your console, you should be able to. How about instead of posting ignorant comments like “Fuck you Geohot !” , you actually do a little research on the subject.

    @DoNuTTzz He did that for good of the system though, so people like him could use the PS3 for homebrew, and add features they want to see in it (since God only knows Sony isn’t going to do it) and make a nice underground community for it. But some dirty cheaters decided to only use it for cheats, cause they wanna be “cool” or something. Granted, I’d use cheats to screw around once or twice, not for points. Or to piss off elitist players who think they’re hardcore XD.

It’s whoever made Call of Duty’s fault for not moderating things online, not GeoHot’s…Hell, hacking CoD came BEFORE the jailbreak, I remember playing CoD4 and seeing roughly 1/4 matches have Auto Aim bots on, or Ninja Mode, or some other cheat. And you don’t hear people whining about Halo being hacked, even though alot of people own chipped 360′s. Care to explain?
