New iTunes Updates Lets You Manage More Than 180 iPhone Apps

New iTunes update adds grayed out Home Screens for easier app managementIn September when iPhone OS 3.1 was released, Apple also introduced an App management feature for iTunes, which let you manage iPhone apps on your iPhone Home Screens directly from iTunes.

One of the issues with this iPhone app management feature was that it only displayed the 180 iPhone apps spread over the eleven iPhone Home Screens. This was okay if you had fewer iPhone apps. However, for users who had used up most of their 180 app slots, adding and sorting newer iPhone apps was a tedious and clumsy process.

Apple has now introduced additional Home Screens in iTunes 9.0.2 that makes managing apps much more easier. With an ability to hold up to 176 apps, this organizer shall be shown as a grayed out Home Screen on the iPhone. While the new Home Screen will primarily serve to hold iPhone apps temporarily as you organize your iPhone, you may also be able to access these overflow apps on the iPhone by using Spotlight.

Fourth Generation iPhone Midboard Revealed [RUMOR]

Fourth generation iPhone midboard leakedFolks at ChinaOntrade, the online Chinese wholesaler website, who had earlier successfully leaked iPhone 3GS parts weeks before the actual release and also recently in news for leaking pics of what they claim is the SIM tray of the fourth generation iPhone/iTablet are at it again.

The website now claims to be stocking a fourth generation iPhone midboard which they say has been procured from Foxconn, the OEM who supplies these parts to Apple for the iPhone. While it is not possible to verify the veracity of the claims, it surely raises doubts about when the next iPhone is actually going to be launched.

From what is known officially from Apple, the launch of the next generation of iPhone is at least eight months away from now. If ChinaOnTrade’s claims about this new part is true, then there is definitely something that does not meet the eye. As folks from Gizmodo report, with the official launch date of iPhone 4 generation handset months away, it does not make logisitcal sense for Apple to have already started the production run. Looking at this from another perspective, if the production run has actually begun, then it could also be possible that the launch of the fourth generation iPhone is much closer than what we think.

Logos brings free Bible study tools to the iPhone

We’ve mentioned Logos for Mac before, but now there is Logos Bible Software for iPhone (iTunes link), a free app providing access to several translations of the Bible and other Bible study books (most of the ones available at http://bible.logos.com). That’s pretty good.

If you create a free account at Logos.com, you gain access to even more free resources. That’s even better.

The app also lets you set up reading lists, which is an excellent idea. I’ve read through the Bible twice in the past few years, and used Mobile Safari on my iPhone to keep up with online lists. This app would have been much easier to use.

Stick It 2.1 released: Provides Quick-Glance Reminders for Safer Driving

Newark, NJ - TapFactory has released Stick It 2.1 for iPhone and iPod touch. Using your iPhone or iPod while driving can be dangerous (and in some places illegal), but for those times when we must, an app like “Stick It” can help keep it to a minimum, so you can keep your eyes on the road.

“Stick It” is a utility that allows you to quickly and easily take notes, customize their look, and create beautiful wallpapers for your lockscreen to function as quick reminders (a feature many have lamented should have been built into the device OS itself).

“In addition to lockscreen reminders being an iPhone/iPod Touch feature sorely missed by many users,” says TapFactory, developers of “Stick It”, “we’ve developed Stick It to provide users with a way to view notes and reminders without having to unlock their device. This results in safer driving, higher productivity, and another fun way to increase the iPhone/iPod Touch’s usefulness in their daily lives.”

Developers report a moment of upside-down app rankings, now returning to normal

It seems to be back to status quo ante now, and we’re not sure exactly what was going on, but something apparently slipped off the crazy shelf and whacked the App Store firmly in the noggin. Multiple users and developers emailed to let us know that the Top Paid rankings in the store were completely jumbled up, with unfamiliar apps taking over the rankings from long-standing champs. iGlowStickPro? 301+ Short Stories? That ain’t right.

The US store was definitely fritzy, but other tipsters report that the Australian store was affected as well. Now that things seem to be returning to normal, it’s interesting to note how quickly everyone reacted to send a heads-up about the problem… when your monthly revenues depend on that Top Paid ranking slot, even a few minutes of confusion will get your attention in a hurry.

Thanks to everyone who sent this in.Developers report a moment of upside-down app rankings, now returning to normal originally appeared on The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW) on Wed, 04 Nov 2009 20:00:00 EST. Please see our terms for use of feeds.
