5 To 7 Million Samsung Users Expected To Switch To Apple’s iPhone 7 After Note 7 Disaster

It’s no secret that all is fair in love and war, and that the smartphone industry is a cut-throat market, but it seems that Samsung’s public relations nightmare with the Galaxy Note 7 could end very well for Apple and its current flagship, the iPhone 7.

We already know that Samsung has not only issued a worldwide recall for the Note 7 range, but that it has also abandoned the device altogether, with Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities suggesting that Apple and Huawei could be the two companies to benefit most from the Galaxy Note 7’s end of life. Those consumers who have opted to purchase a Galaxy Note 7, and who are now faced with having to take that device back as part of the worldwide recall, can either choose to take another Samsung smartphone, such as the Galaxy S7 or S7 Edge, or they can stay away from the South Korean manufacturer altogether in favor of another device maker.

KGI Securities Ming-Chi Kuo is estimating that around 5-7 million smartphone users will opt to move away from Samsung into the arms of Apple and the iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus.

Kuo believes that a lot of those converts have simply lost faith in the Samsung brand, even though there is no indication whatsoever that any other devices made by Samsung are suffering – or could potentially suffer – from any of the same afflictions that have ultimately caused the demise of the Note 7 range. There’s also a belief that those who opted for the Note 7 would actually see a lot of value in having an iPhone 7 Plus with its iSight-Duo camera that makes use of advances in iOS to capture stunning photos.

What is particularly interesting about this latest prophecy by Kuo is that it’s largely a speculative suggestion that is based on the belief that Galaxy Note 7 owners are fans of highly performant devices with impressive camera functionality and advanced features such as the Iris scanner.

Of course, the reality of the situation is that some of those affected by the recall will simply be die-hard Samsung fans who wouldn’t dream of moving away from the brand, or away from Android. Others will be on the fence when it comes to making that all important decision.

What is for sure however, is that no matter how you look at it, Samsung as a brand has been affected, and there will definitely be a huge churn across to the iPhone.
