The regular “Locate my iPhone” tale has the tendency to have a heartwarming aspect to it; somebody has their iPhone taken, whereupon they use “Locate my iPhone” to track down the burglar and recover ownership of what is truly theirs. And simply this week, we happened to cover a story detailing just how the function allowed legislation enforcement authorities to find and ultimately save a hurt walker.
This is not one of those tales.
Initially reported on the UK-based Diary, a Scottish guy in Glasgow called Derek Grant made use of the “Discover my iPhone” application to track down the person which burglarized his son of his iPhone at knifepoint. Upon tracking down the thief down, Grant stabbed him repetitively. The iPhone thief, one Patrick Bradley, died of heart attack pretty soon afterwards.
