Android Use finally has iOS assistance after Google pushed its iPhone-compatible software application to the App Store. This means that Android has beaten Apple Watch to the cross-platform video game. Or, a minimum of it would, if iOS didn’t limit it to a state of nearly uselessness. The only device formally supported is the LG Watch Urbane although– as we formerly exposed– the older generation Android Put on watches do work. I got it set up with my Moto 360, and have actually been mostly disappointed by my experience up until now.

My Moto 360 runs the current Android Wear 1.3 build, and with any Android smartphone can a terrific lots of things. I have a huge selection of watch faces offered to download from the Play Store, a few of them interactive, and lots of, many apps to communicate with by voice command or touchscreen gesture. To go from that, to just having the ability to see calendar occasions, weather, tips and Gmail is anticlimactic to state the least. At worst, I was expecting to be able to see SMS message notifications and not much else, however I do not even have those. Regardless of hardware, brand-new or old, this limitation won’t change with iOS until Apple states so.

My other disappointments I feel are mostly to do with having a 1 year-old smartwatch. Voice commands take permanently to sign up and pack, as well as when it looked like it was about to do something, I ‘d get an appear alert telling me my phone was no longer connected. Nothing has worked properly, apart from the primary couple of minutes of setting up and going through the simple tutorial. To say it has been a waste of time would be putting it mildly.

If you haven’t downloaded the Android Use app for your iPhone yet, and still want to provide it a try, you can download it here for complimentary. If you do not have an Android Put on smartwatch to attempt it with, you can pick one up for as little as $ 130 online.Filed under: AAPL Company Tagged: Android Put on, App Store (iOS), Apple Inc, Google, Google Now, Google Play, iOS, iPhone, Setup, video
