Apple abandons Newton trademark

Even though Steve Jobs killed the Newton when he returned to Apple in 1997, the company has maintained the trademark for Apple’s first PDA ever since. Well, until earlier this month that is. As noted by PatentlyApple, Apple officially abandoned the Newton trademark on February 12, 2013.
The discovery was made when PatentlyApple was searching through trademarks in the Canadian IP office this month. With the abandoning of the Newton trademark, it’s likely we will never see another product from Apple called “Newton” again.
