Apple has used its Spring 2016 “Let us loop you in” event to announce a number of new bands for the Apple Watch, which incidentally is approaching its first-year anniversary. Rather than introduce a second-generation Apple Watch, which many had hoped would be the case, Apple has taken advantage of the captive audience at the Town Hall, Cupertino, to let the world know that those with an Apple Watch can now customize it further with a number of new bands being made available for immediate purchase.
As part of an effort to bolster sales of the current Apple Watch without actually introducing new hardware, Tim Cook has introduced a new range of Woven Nylon bands that are offered in multiple vibrant colours. Those looking to add a bit of vibrancy to the Apple Watch are now able to purchase the new nylon bands in Gold/Red, Gold/Royal Blue, Pink, Pearl, Scuba Blue, Royal Blue and Black for $49 each.
Also available now is Apple Watch Sport, Classic Buckle and Leather Loop bands in a wide array of new colors manufactured for the Spring season. For those who want something a little bit more sophisticated and a deviation from the budget look that is provided by the plastic-esque bands, Apple is also introducing a new Space Black Milanese Loop.
There may not be any physical updates to the Apple Watch itself, but it’s nice to see that Apple is at least bringing some new goodies to those Apple Watch fans.

The good news relating to the Apple watch doesn’t end there, either. In addition to making available a number of new bands that extend the personalization options of the company’s “most personal product yet,” Apple has also decided to reduce the cost of the hardware. Consumers can now purchase the Apple Watch Sport at $50 less than before, with the 38mm casing going for $299 and the larger 42mm variant, for $349. It’s likely that the price reduction will be the start of setting the scene for the introduction of the second-generation Apple Watch later in the year.
