Bay Area Union Square Apple Store Starts May 21, Stockton Store Shades On Same Day

Apple has officially announced that its new stunning retail presence in San Francisco will open its doors on May 21 at 10 a.m. Pacific Time. The retail arm of Apple’s operations has been working tirelessly behind the scenes to get the store ready to be presented to the public, with Apple now finding itself in a position to welcome footfall into the new Union Square store. Of course, when you welcome in the new, it ultimately means that the old has to make way, meaning that the San Francisco populous can now prepare to say goodbye to the existing Apple Store at Stockton Street.

It’s not unusual for Apple to have multiple retail store locations within close proximity of one another. Plenty of major cities around the world benefit from having one or more Apple Stores located on high streets or within prime locations in shopping malls. And as you might expect, the Bay Area is no different with multiple store locations throughout.

Union Square will however be the focal point of those outlets, with the unique offering coming from the sheer size of the new store, as well as the two gigantic glass sliding doors that allow access into the building.

The store may be extremely welcoming and beautiful when it opens, but it hasn’t been without its road blocks and teething problems. The new location has been in planning internally with Apple for a number of years, and eventually began construction almost a year ago in June of 2015. Before that was even possible Apple had to demolish an existing building on the land, and perform significant clean-up duties in order to prime the location for construction of this behemoth property. With all of that work out of the way, Apple will officially open the doors of the new store at 10 a.m. on May 21.

The existing Stockton Street location will be laid to rest on May 20 after its final day of operations. When the doors close at 9 p.m. Pacific Time after what will presumably be a hectic and emotional day, they simply will not open again, with the torch being passed across to the 300 Post Street store in Union Square. Apple’s latest retail outlet is expected to benefit from the new modern interior that has recently been rolling out in flagship stores across the world.
