BuddyLock, developed by Jacob Caraballo, is a lock screen tweak that adds some cool features to your iPhone’s Lock screen.
You’re able to launch apps straight from the lock screen, change the look and feel by applying themes, and even have quick access to widgets, contacts, and playlists.
You have the option to have up to 5 quick launch apps on the lock screen, which you’re able to change to whichever app you please. You’ll notice that the date header is white and has some transparency to it as well. A completely different font and font color. These are just some of customizations you can make with BuddyLock.
You can add more than 5 quick launch apps by using a feature called folder. To use a folder, you can either trade in your 5th application or just have 4 or less quick launch apps on the lock screen. The folder allows you to store up to 4 additional quick launch apps and they reveal themselves when hovering over the folder icon as you can see below.
You have the option to change your font, color theme, and opacity of your date header to fit the current theme of your iOS device. You can also resize and select the opacity of app icons on the lock screen.
Widgets, contacts, and playlists can be assigned from either side of the screen. Once assigned it only takes a swipe from the left to reveal (in this case) the widgets, and a swipe from the right reveals the contacts.
BuddyLock gives you multiple things to “hide” on your lock screen if you’re wanted a more minimalistic look. It also gives you the ability to swipe away notifications. You can make the changes via the Settings app.
BuddyLock is a pretty cool tweak, and adds quite a few useful options that can be accessed directly from the Lock screen without unlocking the device. It is available on Cydia for $0.99.
