SpokenLayer iPhone app adds AOL Tech titles for your listening pleasure
For the last ten months, TUAW has been providing readers with an audio version of selected stories through the Daily Update. Today, we’re happy to announce that you can listen to all TUAW posts as well as those from Engadget, TechCrunch, and Joystiq, through a new app called SpokenLayer (free).

The app is perfect for listening to your favorite AOL Tech sites (and other content) while walking, riding a bike, or driving a car.
To quote the blurb on the SpokenLayer website, “SpokenLayer transforms the best of the web into narrated audio, making written content available anytime, anywhere.” At this time, SpokenLayer also provides content from the Associated Press, The Atlantic, The Atlantic Cities, and National Journal.
The company is adding new content providers quickly, with the posts read by a mix of live narrators and text-to-speech voices.

Design And Buy Your Very Own Customized iPhone Case With This iOS App [VIDEO]
The iPhone 4 and 4S are two of the best looking smartphones on the market, with their all metal and glass finish giving an impression of class.
The problem with having so much glass on a smartphone though – the iPhone 4/4S has glass on both the front and back of the device – is that it can get scratched all too easily.
The answer to that problem is to use a case, which is standard fare for many iPhone owners. Some people refuse to leave the home without encasing their iPhone in something to try and prevent the almost inevitable scratches and blemishes that come from using an iPhone 24/7. The problem with cases however, is two-fold.
Firstly, some of them are just plain ugly. Why take a phone that looks as nice as the iPhone does and then coat it on some horrible, cheap material that ruins the overall effect. The second problem is that the few iPhone cases that are actually good quality, and don’t intrude on the overall look and feel of the phone, are likely the same cases that all your friends already own. If you’re going to use a case, it may as well offer something a little different, right?
Dark Sky For iOS Beats The Weatherman For Updates, Probably The Most Accurate Weather App Out There
Predicting the weather is a notoriously difficult affair. While the technology used to predict what the weather will do has improved greatly over the years, as has the end result, it is a well known fact that trusting the weatherman is still not the easiest thing in the world to do.
As is the case with so many things these days, finding out what the weather has in store for you is just a case of picking up your iPhone or iPad and checking one of the plethora of apps, including Apple’s own built-in solution. Powered by Yahoo!, Apple’s weather app is no worse, nor no better than any of the competition. It does what it is supposed to, at least most of the time.
With so many weather apps available on the App Store, deciding which to choose is never an easy thing. With so many free and paid solutions knocking around, where do you start, and which do you opt for?
