Guide: Sn0wbreeze 2.1 iOS 4.1 Jailbreak for All iOS Devices Released [Custom Firmware Windows]

Sn0wbreeze 2.1Sn0wbreeze 2.1 for iOS 4.1 / 3.2.2 is now available for download. If any of the existing iOS 4.1 jailbreak tools didn’t work for you, you can give Sn0wbreeze 2.1 a try!

For those of you who don’t know, like PwnageTool for Mac, Sn0wbreeze for Windows can be used to create custom firmware files for iOS 4.1 without the upgraded baseband so that you can unlock iOS 4.1 (05.13.04 baseband) with existing version of Ultrasn0w.

Sn0wbreeze 2.1 supports the following devices:

  • iPhone 4, 3GS, 3G
  • iPod touch 4G, 3G, 2G
  • iPad (on iOS 3.2.2)
  • Apple TV 2G

Since instructions for jailbreaking iOS 4.1 using Sn0wbreeze are almost exactly similar to the last release, you can follow the instructions

iPad may soon run Android via OpeniBoot

OpeniBoot Android iPad Not entirely psyched about your iPad because of its lack of Adobe Flash support, or unhappy with the iOS operating system itself? How about installing Android on it instead? OpeniBoot, an open source implementation of iBoot for Apple iOS devices, is on a mission to bring the Android OS to the iPad and iPhone 4.

While previous versions of OpeniBoot have appeared for the first-gen iPhone and iPhone 3G, this is the first we’ve seen of the implementation for more modern iOS devices. For jailbroken (obviously) iOS devices, the use of OpeniBoot allows the booting of unsigned code such as Linux, and thus Android, on Apple devices.

Steve Jobs Calls Developer Of Rejected iPad App

IpadIn an age when a simple one worded e-mail reply from Apple CEO Steve Jobs to various people who write to him with their Apple related issues or grievances makes news headlines, a phone call from the man at the helm of things at Apple is bound to create ripples.

Well, that is exactly what has happened with Ram Arumugam, an iOS developer who dashed of an e-mail to Steve Jobs after his iPad app was rejected from the App Store. He actually received a call from Steve Jobs!

Arumugam, a former Microsoft Employee quit his job back in 2008 and started his own iOS app developing company called Cascade Software. He was working on a new app for Apple’s iPad – known as Economy for iPad (iTunes link).

He was almost done developing the app when he hit an annoying keyboard bug, which made it impossible to dismiss the keyboard using approved/public methods/APIs.

Since this bug was caused due to an issue with Apple SDK, this was something Arumugam could not fix. He had one alternative though – using a private API  to fix it, which is not allowed according to the terms of the iOS Developer agreement. He used the private API and submitted his app for review and was soon greeted with a politely worded rejection letter. Unperturbed, he filed a review appeal and talked at length with folks from Apple to get his iPad app approved.

After submitting the review petition, he wasn’t sure

OpeniBoot to Bring Android on iPad and iPhone 4 [VIDEO]

Android on iPadYes you read that right! If the video embedded below is anything to go by, running Android on iPad will soon become a reality.

The folks who brought us OpeniBoot based Bootlace for running Android on iPhone 3G are now working hard on porting it to iPhone 4 and the large-screen-tablet iPad. For those of you who don’t know, OpeniBoot is an open source implementation of iBoot bootloader for Apple iOS based devices.

It allows booting of unsigned code such as Linux kernels on the device. OpeniBoot is critical for booting and usage of Linux based distros such as Android on the iPhone as it sets up and initializes many devices ready for the Linux kernel to take over. Currently, only iPhone 3G, 2G and the 1st-gen iPod touch is supported.

Here’s How to Get iOS 4.2 AirPrint Working on Mac OS X 10.6.5

Mac OS X 10.6.5 was supposed to bring AirPrint support for any printer connected to a Mac. Reportedly, Apple has removed AirPrint support from OS X in the final release of 10.6.5 due to some last minute patent issues.

iOS 4.2 AirPrint on Mac OS X 10.6.5

Developer Steven Troughton-Smith has found a workaround to get it working back on the final build of OS X 10.6.5. The process involves copying of three files from pre-release builds of 10.6.5 over to the final build, and then add your printer in Print & Fax preferences pane to get it all working. The files you need are:
