Siri takes security to the extreme in parody video

Siri has many useful features, but here’s one you won’t find in Apple’s documentation. This video from Aatma Studio showcases a new self-destruct feature that would make Dan Briggs or Jim Phelps proud. You can check out the YouTube video below.
iPhones smuggled into China in beer bottles [video]
It’s pretty easy to understand most of this story. Someone in Hong Kong wanted to get a bunch of iPhones into Shenzen, China, so they decided to smuggle them across the border.
That’s illegal, but it makes sense. China charges heavy taxes on importing goods like these, and whoever ran this scheme wanted to avoid the tax.
What doesn’t make sense, however, is how they did it. The culprit cut open empty beer bottles, placing iPhones inside three at a time, and then resealed the bottles with tape. You can see the full Chinese news report below. Over 200 iPhones were being smuggled in beer bottles.
I guess the best explanation is that people often bring empty bottles into China for recycling, and the hope was that these would just get lost in the mix. But it’s definitely an unusual scheme.
Samsung Releases Teaser For The Galaxy S III, Takes A Jab At iPhone Users [VIDEO]
No matter how anxious tech fans are becoming in their endeavor to meet Samsung’s Galaxy S III, the Korean consumer electronics giant is giving absolutely nothing away.
With the official announcement set for ten days’ time, Samsung has released a couple of short teaser videos, although anybody looking for some solid information will once again be disappointed.
Both short clips consist of short journeys through the galaxy, which, while visually pleasing, don’t do much to excite the tech-loving faithful.
Essentially, all they reveal is that it will be a Galaxy device, will fit easily into the hand, and will, according to Samsung, become ”a natural side of life”. Never shy to make its feelings known through advertising and trailers, it calls out what it sees as the “sheep” of the smartphone market – not very subtle, I think you’ll agree.

OpenPhoto is an open, cloud-based photo storage alternative for iPhone [video]
If you’re furious with Flickr and peeved at Picasa, there’s a new kid in town — OpenPhoto. OpenPhoto is an open source photo sharing service along the lines of those other services, but the images are stored on Dropbox, Amazon S3, or any other cloud-storage service.
It’s meant to give photograph owners more control over their online photo storage, and you can even install the code on your own server is you wish.
OpenPhoto was initially funded by a Kickstarter project, and the development team has reached a new milestone with the release of an iPhone app (free). The app is a bit underwhelming at the moment, but remember that this is 1.0 version. Some other bloggers have tried to compare the app to Instagram, but point out that there’s no social aspect to the app or service yet. At this time, OpenPhoto is good for one thing, and that’s for storing your images in the cloud.
