Established: 9.7 And Each iPhone SE – iPad Pro Function 2GB Memory

As the dust begins to settle on yesterday’s Apple event, people are starting to glean more and more information that wasn’t part of Apple’s big unveiling. One of the more interesting announcements, even though it was far from a shock, was the 9.7-inch iPad Pro and new details have emerged of just what will power the new tablet. In fact, we now know more about the equally interesting $399 iPhone SE, too.

Having got his hands on both the new 9.7-inch iPad Pro model and 4-inch iPhone SE, well known journalist Matthew Panzarino did the only thing any self respecting nerd would do and that was to install a hardware-checking tool and start checking out the two devices’ innards.

Kicking things off with the iPad Pro, the most pertinent discovery here is that the 9.7-inch device only features 2GB of RAM, whereas its larger 12.9-inch brethren packs double that amount. This will no doubt have some sort of effect on performance compared to 12.9-inch iPad Pro model, although it shouldn’t be enough to make the new iPad Pro a slouch by any stretch of the imagination. If you haven’t used an iPad Air 2, you will know how fast it is with its 2GB of RAM.

As for the iPhone SE, that too packs 2GB of RAM, which means it, as expected, ships with the same amount of memory as both the flagship iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. In fact, it is now more clear than ever that the iPhone SE is essentially an iPhone 6s but with a smaller screen and no 3D Touch, oh and with $399 price tag compared to $650 iPhone 6s and $750 iPhone 6s Plus. If you didn’t think the iPhone SE was a bargain beforehand, then you should now.

With both the iPhone SE and iPad Pro now outed, attention will turn to the iPhone 7 announcement that should be upon us in around six months. Plenty of time for the rumors to really start to swirl.
