Facebook today launched a new application called Slingshot, which is made to take on well-liked ephemeral messaging application Snapchat. A video clip and picture messaging application, Slingshot enables customers to provide media to pals, that are unable to see it till they discuss something back.


Chances taken with the cam could be modified with inscriptions and doodles, then provided to a number of close friends or a solitary good friend. Slingshot requires a phone number to authorize up, but it does not compel customers to join or use Facebook.

When a message is gotten, it is “locked” until a customer sends out a chance of their own, a feature Facebook hopes will urge a lot more energetic sharing.

Slingshot lets you rapidly share moments– little and huge– with lots of people at the same time. Shoot a photo or video of exactly what you depend on and sling it to a bunch of buddies. They won’t have the ability to view your chance up until they sling something back. Touch on a go to respond, or merely swipe it away.

As with Snapchat, photos and videos are removed quickly after they are seen, though the app does permit customers to take screenshots of content.

Slingshot is not Facebook’s first try at a Snapchat rival. Back in 2012, while Snapchat was still in its infancy, Facebook company presented Poke, permitting individuals to provide ephemeral messages. The not successful application was removed from the App Store in May 2014.
