The special impacts team behind the brand-new Biblical epic Noah used a custom iPad application to control a significant expenses synthetic rain and lights rig that can pouring 5,000 gallons each minute of water and transforming evening into day.

WIRED went behind the scenes to see exactly how the FX team placed it all with each other.

And on the 8th day, we acquired apps. Supervisor Darren Aronofsky’s new film Noah is, certainly, regarding the Biblical flood so massive it required one man to develop an ark.

Bringing such an apocalyptic deluge to the cinema was no simple task, and it called for the special results group behind the film to, well, make it rain.
