   Instructions on how to use these firmwares on this page would help others.

   Some instructions I have found say that one needs to put the device into Recovery Mode. I found it is unecessary and I was not able to get the device into Recovery Mode anyways. So, skip that information.

   With the iPhone turned on. Plugg it into the computer and have iTunes running. Hold the Options (Mac) or Shift (Windows) key while clicking on the Restore button. It opens up a dialog box where you can choose your firmware downloaded from ‘here’ (these are links to Apple’s download server). Let it restore that firmware.

    Need some help, guys. Need to go back to 3.0 from 3.1 so my apps. will work again. When I click on the proper .ipsw file, it begins the process but, after saying “verifying with Apple”, it says my “device isn’t eligible for the requested build”. I know nothing about unlocking & jailbreaking (though both were already done by the seller for my Ebay-purchased phone). Am I just screwed since it’s apparently checking with Apple before it will let me do the FW restore?

     When you download the file with IE, it has a zip extension. You need to change that to .ipsw (ATTENTION: the right extension is IPSW not ispw!!). Don’t unzip it. Just change the extension (rename the .zip file in .ipsw). On a mac if you read “xxxx.ipsw.zip” delete .zip !

     Your guides are easy to use and the links work perfect. You guys are the best. Also had the problem with the Firmware being downloaded as a .zip using Internet Explorer, if you don’t want to change the file type to .IPSW, just use different browser such Firefox or Safari from Apple.      I have 2nd gen iphone. Cydia is acting crazy. It tell me that there is an upgrade, but when i try to install the upgrade it will not complete. I get size mismatch errors when trying to update. Also errors in Rock! How do I get rid of these errors?

     i had a cracked iphone 2G which had 1.1 something software in it.i connected it to itunes and it said that theres a update to the software and i started updating it. after some time it just flashed on screeninsert a valid sim with no pin lock to activate iphone.
