Google To Start A Bodily ‘YouTube Inventor Store’ In London

YouTube is barely unrecognizable from the company that Google acquired for $1.65 billion back in November 2006. The video-sharing website has gone from strength-to-strength in the last decade, and is now one of the most instantly recognizable websites and brands in the world.

With that in mind, it shouldn’t really come as a great shock that Alphabet-owned Google has decided to push the YouTube brand a step further by opening up a physical bricks-and-mortar store in the heart of London dedicated to all things YouTube. Google is planning on calling the new physical outlet the “Creator Store”.

The name could instantly give the impression that YouTube channel owners and fans alike could visit it to receive help with the creation of content destined to be uploaded onto YouTube’s servers. In this instance, that’s definitely not the case. The new Creator Store, which will be located on the ground floor of Google’s office space in King’s Cross, London – and is part of the YouTube Space that was just launched this week – will be a retail outlet that will stock things like mugs, books, clothes, photo frames, and more than likely, much more.

In addition to stocking and selling physical items that have been created by designers in partnership with some of YouTube’s biggest stars, the new Creator Store will also be used to host book signings and product launches, as well as being the home to three individual studios packed with professional recording equipment that the more prominent YouTube stars can take advantage of. Clearly a move designed to not only promote the more popular YouTube stars, but to also try and improve the quality of the content that’s being uploaded.

All-in-all, it sounds like it could prove to be an extremely popular location for people in Central London looking for a new and creative place to hang out and socialize. Being part of the YouTube Space, the store will have access to the barista bar and a communal area, perfect for meetings and social gatherings.

The store could actually also be extremely profitable for merchandise creators, with a senior program strategist at YouTube confirming that profits will be passed onto those creating the merchandise sold within the store.

It’s currently unknown when the Creator Store will open, but if you’re a hardened YouTube fan or content creator, then watch this space.
