The iPad is a wondrous thing. That 10-inch sheet of glass is just so gorgeous, you want to lick it.
Well, maybe that’s just us, but you do have to admit that it’s one hunk of loveliness, but it’s often under-utilized because it just won’t support itself.
Yes, there are various stands and cases that will kinda do the job, but they all come with their own little foibles, and there are usually a few reasons they just do not meet our requirements 100%.
If you’re the owner of an iMac then you’ve probably also come across the same yearnings as we have. Wouldn’t it be cool to have your iPad docked to the edge of that huge iMac screen? Wouldn’t that just be so wonderful that you might just have to let out a little squeal?
All over-excitement aside, this latest iPad stand has really caught our imagination, and we’re sure you’ll see why.
The Twelve South HoverBar, from the same people that created the Mac accessories we’ve come to lust after over the last couple of years, offers users a safe and secure way to mount an iPad to the side of an iMac, or a Thunderbolt display should you so wish.
The whole thing works as if by magic, or if you’re more of an engineering kinda guy, then it works by clipping to the iMac’s metal stand. The clip comes with a soft inner layer to protect the iMac from damage, but once hooked up the thing can be moved around on a long arm which stretches to the edge of the screen.
This would be perfect if you wanted to keep Twitter scrolling along while using the iMac in Lion’s full screen mode, for example. You could even play a game and have a game guide just to the side of the action. No need to move your eyes too far away from what’s going in in-game just to work out which door you need to go through!
Potential purchasers will need to hand over $79.99 to get their hands on a Twelve South HoverBar, but if the photos and the video above do it justice, then that may well be something of a steal!
