iOS 10 Releasedate Set For September 30, Based On Barbra Streisand

If KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicted that iOS 10 would drop this coming September 23, then we would more than likely accept that as having the potential to be true. However, if legendary singer and actress Barbra Streisand suggested that Apple would update its software a week later on September 30, then you may not necessarily take that claim seriously. But that’s exactly what appears to have happened.

It seems that Barbra Streisand has long taken exception with the way Apple’s digital assistant, Siri, pronounces her surname.

As part of an interview with NPR, Streisand has made it known that she hasn’t exactly been happy with Siri pronouncing her name with a “z”, rather than the soft “s” that it actually should be. Rather than suffer in silence, or go through Apple’s long-winded channels to try and change this, it seems that Streisand used her fame and influence to contact Apple CEO Tim Cook directly. That phone call seems to have potentially let the rest of us know just when Apple plans to release iOS 10.

The phone call to Tim Cook seemingly resulted in two outcomes; first, Cook presumably apologized to the singing legend and agreed to make amendments to Siri to ensure that her name is pronounced correctly in the future. And secondly, according to Streisand, Cook confirmed that the fix would be added to the next update of iOS, which was confirmed to be arriving on September 30.

Given the fact that Apple’s iPhone 7 media event is rumored to be happening on September 7, and Apple’s next OS update happens to be iOS 10, historically, Apple has released major iOS releases like iOS 10 to public a week after their iPhone event. So if what is said in this interview stands correct, then it seems like the new firmware release will be coming later than expected, which seems unlikely, though it’ll be extremely interesting to see how this one pans out.

Apple’s iPhone 7 is expected to be announced on September 7, with pre-orders beginning September 9, and shipping is said to start on September 23.
