Following the apparent leak of iPhone 6s Plus packaging last month, an image professing to reveal the front of the iPhone 6s box has actually appeared on Dutch website Techtastic, following the same design style. Like the iPhone 6s Plus box (shown below), which showcased a gold and black fish that looked nearly like a flower, the supposed iPhone 6s box shows exactly what seems a partially golden fish against an all-white background, matching the gold or increased gold edges of the device.

Our reports preceeding the main introduction of the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus kept in mind that Apple prepares to add Movement backgrounds to the new iPhones, paralleling a function presented on the Apple Watch. The Apple Watch’s Movement backgrounds consist of timelapse animations of flowers, butterflies flapping their wings, and jellyfish moving versus black backgrounds. New backgrounds consisting of animated fish and colorful bursts of smoke are expected to debut on the iPhones.

In spite of the substantial similarities in the supposed iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus boxes, however, there are some details that do not match up precisely, suggesting that a person or both are prototypes of the final product packaging…

… The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus shipped in product packaging that was minimalistic even by Apple’s requirements, showcasing absolutely nothing more than the basic extruded shape of the device on the top, accompanied by Apple logo and iPhone branding on 2 sides. By contrast, both of the supposed boxes go back to branding on all sides. They also appear to show color screen images and broadened metallic details of the device designs on top, though they vary in the variety of aspects shown near the speaker: the most current shot reveals FaceTime camera and proximity sensing units alongside the speaker, while the earlier one did not.

It is possible that the most recent box image, apparently torn, was disposed of as an incomplete iPhone 6 packaging design, but either or both of the boxes might not represent the final packaging. We’ll understand more after tomorrow’s special occasion in San Francisco.Filed under: AAPL
