Released Internal Documents Verify Sony PlayStation 4 Neo’s Specifications, Launch, And Much More

Microsoft may have taken the leadership approach in getting the gaming community excited once again for console hardware by not only introducing the Xbox One S during this year’s E3, but also offering a limited edition Gears of War 4 bundle for pre-order to drum up interest, but it looks as though it’s now Sony’s turn to take center stage, albeit inadvertently.

A set of leaked internal Sony documents, which seem to offer no reason to doubt their authenticity, have made their way into the public, highlighting not only the PlayStation Neo’s technical specs, but also Sony’s market approach for the console. Interestingly though, the documents have since then been retracted.

It’s becoming increasingly difficult for companies like Sony – and other market leaders across a number of industries – to not only keep new products and hardware a secret, but to also stop internal documents and information from leaking to the public and being published on the Internet prior to a deadline or target being reached.

In the case of this leaked 42-page document, it’s even worse as the likelihood is that the Japanese company had absolutely no intentions whatsoever of sharing this information with the public, unlike a component leak that would eventually be seen by public eyes anyway.

The document may actually disappoint a lot of people looking for some juice gossip or interesting insight into Sony’s plans. It seems that the previous PlayStation Neo leaks, which suggested that the hardware will have 8GB of RAM and will offer ‘Base’ and ‘NEO’ modes for game compatibility, are not only accurate, but look to be based off this internal document.

Very much like Microsoft’s Xbox One S, the PlayStation NEO will be marketed towards those tech-savvy individuals with a 4K TV who are looking to take gaming to the next level in terms of visual clarity and quality. As you might expect, Sony’s new console has also been designed and built to not only take into consideration, but to also support and promote the company’s virtual reality efforts.

The document also suggested that the chosen feature production model will become available in spring 2017, with an actual consumer launch unfortunately still yet to be decided, or if it has been decided, it doesn’t exist in this official Sony document. We’ll have to wait for that information unfortunately.
