Repair Slow Downloads File Problem In Windows 10, Here’s How

It’s probably difficult for a lot of people to comprehend that Windows 10 has now been with us for more than twelve months. As the name suggests, the launch of Microsoft’s Windows 10 Anniversary Update earlier this month not only signified the fact that the platform has been in existence for the last year, but also that it’s now a relatively mature system that the company is looking to update and take to the next level.

Of course, even taking into account its growing maturity, as well as the fact that it’s a huge task to build and maintain a modern and versatile operating system, users are still always going to experience some issues with the platform, such as the age-old problem of the Downloads folder seemingly taking ages to open. Thankfully, there’s an easy fix available for that.

As far as issues with a platform go, having an extremely slow Downloads folders isn’t one of the worst that users will experience on Windows 10. Globally speaking, device owners have been receiving the dreaded Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) after installing the Windows 10 Anniversary Update, as well as suffering from intermittent device freezes that have resulted in Microsoft actually recommending an interim fix of rolling back the OS to a previous version of Windows 10 before the Anniversary Update was installed.

In comparison, a slow Downloads folder issue doesn’t seem so bad as it has been affecting previous versions of Windows as well, but granted, all issues and their annoyance levels are subjective rather than comparative, so if you are regularly accessing the Downloads folder to get recently downloaded files, but it feels like it’s taken an age to load or update, then it can become increasingly frustrating and annoying.

An initial load or update we can sometimes deal with, but when the system struggles and falters every single time the folder is opened, then it can be rather infuriating.

It will more than likely please affected users to know that not only is there a relatively simple fix for the issue, but it’s also a tried and tested fix that has been applied to previous versions of Windows that have suffered the same issues, namely Windows 8. So if you’re affected by this issue, then head on over to our previous tutorial on the subject and get that fix in place right now: Speed Up Access To A Slow Downloads Folder In Windows 8.
