Social network usage has rised exponentially over the past few years.Savi People iOS

Most of us actively use 2-3 social networks every day – Facebook, Twitter, Instagram for example. It is, then, a little strange that iOS’ Contacts app hasn’t evolved much, if at all since 2007.

Contacts apps on Android and Windows Phone 7 are particularly powerful when you compare them with Apple’s offering. Contacts on WP7 are deeply integrated with Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. You can open up a contact in the app and see all their latest updates and uploaded personal information, contact them via these networks without ever having to launch dedicated apps.

Now, you can enjoy the same level of integration on iOS, albeit in the form of a third-party app. Check it out after the jump.

Developed by MobileLife Studios. “Savi People” is a superbly powerful contacts app that integrates your contacts with some of the most popular social networks. This results in a unified communications app unlike anything we’ve seen before on the platform.

When you launch the app for the first time, it asks you for your personal credentials* on networks like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram (iOS 5 only). Once signed in and you set things up, you can stay in touch with contacts across these networks with ease.

If a contact profile is synchronized properly across the networks, you can call, FaceTime, text, post on Facebook wall, send a direct/private message and view their profiles on different networks. All of these features are wrapped in a nicely designed user interface. Check it out in the video below:
