Back in April, Sentry, UI and UX designer of the Auxo fame, had created an interesting concept called ‘Fan Out’ App grouping that reimagined the way folders was implemented in iOS to reduce the clutter.

He wrote:

Here it’s applied to a ‘sub/alt apps’ type grouping system, which would reduce on folder clutter and needing to waste SB space for more rarely used [alt] apps.

As you can see in the image above, the idea of the tweak is to put similar type of apps, for example all the Camera apps, in one folder with the Camera app as the primary app.

The apps can then be accessed by swiping down on the Camera app icon, which expands the folder giving access to other Camera apps.

If you liked the concept then the good news is that @caughtinflux recently tweeted that he is working on making this concept a reality.

@caughtinflux hasn’t provided a release date, but we’ll let you know as soon as it is released.
