Verizon and AT&T would be the newest companies to launch free iPhone 7 promotions

Verizon Wireless has joined rival carriers T-Mobile and Sprint in running a free iPhone 7 launch promo. The terms of Verizon’s deal pretty much mirror that of the other carriers.

You’ll receive $650 for a qualifying trade-in of iPhone 6/s and iPhone 6/s Plus as credit across 24-months when you purchase iPhone 7. The credit should show up on your bill within 2-3 cycles. To receive the full credit the line must be active for the full 2-years, which would come into play if you’re planning to upgrade next year.

Verizon isn’t too specific on device trade requirements, only saying that it “must be in good working & cosmetic condition.” No matter which iPhone 7/Plus you order, you’ll only receive a credit of $650 (effectively makes 32GB iPhone 7 free). Surprisingly, we haven’t seen an iPhone 7 promo from AT&T yet, despite all of its major competitors grabbing headlines with their pre-order offers.

After pre-ordering iPhone 7, your next move should be to pick up a solid case and a pair of Bluetooth headphones. I’d recommend Amazon’s iPhone 7 storefront as the best one stop shop for all accessories. Also, check out our recent roundup for even more iPhone 7/Plus case options.

Apple launched iPhone 7 pre-order first thing this morning and estimated delivery times for some models have already slipped. For full coverage on Apple’s latest smartphone, click here.

Here’s how to get your iPhone 7 for $0:

  1. Buy a new iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus with monthly device payments.
  2. During checkout, select the option to trade in your old device, or if you wish to trade in your device at a later time, log in to My Verizon and select “trade in old device.”
  3. After you have completed your trade-in appraisal, you will receive a box to return your old device.

AT&T has also thrown its hat into the ring with a free iPhone 7 offer of its own, but it’s the weakest of the bunch. You have to port a number to AT&T and be a DIRECTV subscriber to qualify. Here’s how it works:

FREE IPHONE 7 32GB OFFER: Limited time (ends September 15, 2016, in Puerto Rico). Void in Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Miami-Dade. Port-in: From eligible carriers (excludes Cricket and select others) only. Must buy eligible device within 7 days of port. Eligible Device: New iPhone 7 and 7 Plus on 0% APR AT&T Next (30-month) or AT&T Next Every Year (24-month) installment agreement. Retail price is divided into monthly installments. Tax on full retail price due at sale. After all credits, get iPhone 7 32GB priced $650 ($21.67 or $27.09 per month) for free. May apply max credit towards other eligible devices priced up to $970, which will be discounted but not free.
