Veu (free) is a smart iOS app that unfortunately has some peculiarities and harsh edges. The app– which is developed to be an on-the-fly travel quick guide– has insurance coverage for the US, UK, France, Germany, Italy and information for several major cities. It declares 27,000,000 sights, however those POIs are based upon interactions with databases like Foursquare and Wikipedia.

Veu normally works rather well. The app determines your present area, or you could by hand input an area. Often there are a bunch of pinch hit spots located near the area, and you can select a place to obtain instructions with Apple Maps or see evaluations from Foursquare. Veu additionally grabs regional photos to dress up the screen.

Results are a little bit jagged, though. London, England revealed a bunch of places to see and supplied assessments of restaurants galore, however Scottsdale, Arizona– positively creeping with points to do and positions to eat– revealed only 2 places. When you are on the Apple Maps display, there is no way to obtain back to Veu– you need to exit the map and start Veu up again.

The map must be installed in the application rather. If you are in or enter a place Veu can not produce a guide for, the application merely delays searching for some POIs. There is no exit; you simply need to shut the application down. I make sure the designer could find a means to make a more beautiful exit.

Veu is ad assisted, and while I have no trouble with that said as a concept, it’s yet another app that makes use of regularly- altering computer animated screens that are a bad distraction. Developers need to enjoy to provide an advertisement, then cut the remainder of the foolishness.

Veu deserves an appearance, yet it’s not as helpful as much better apps like Around Me or Where To? I assume there is potential below, but the information is not deep enough to be completely dependable and valuable.

Veu requires iOS 7.1. It’s enhanced for the iPhone 5. Veu is meh, however it has some capacity.
