Another Report Suggests AirPods 3 To Be Announced At Apple’s ‘Unleashed’ Event
Analyst Dan Ives has shared an investor note with Wedbush outlining his belief that Monday’s virtual Apple event will be about more than just new MacBooks. According to that note, Apple is also ready to introduce the new third-generation AirPods complete with a revamped product design.
Many people will tune into Apple’s event on Monday looking to learn more about the brand new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models that are expected.
Others, however, will be there for the “one more thing” moment or to actually see what else Apple might introduce or announce that is slightly more affordable than a $1200+ MacBook. If Dan Ives is to be believed, then the brand new third-generation AirPods could be at least one of those additional announcements.
As per the previous speculation, Ives believes that the AirPods 3 could feature a very similar design to what is currently offered with the more expensive AirPods Pro. Although the design will be similar, it’s believed that the AirPods 3 will come without the Active Noise Cancellation functionality that makes the Pro models more expensive but that they will have improved sound quality over earlier models and a few other notable features that are designed to tempt consumers to spend, spend, spend!
According to in-depth supply chain checks, the new AirPods 3 are designed, engineered, manufactured by Apple’s partners, and are essentially ready to roll out of the door. If that is the case, then it’s pretty much a given that Apple will include the new AirPods in next week’s announcements.
Apple last updated the standard AirPods range back in March 2019 with the release of the current second-generation model. Those AirPods can be purchased right with a wireless charging case for $199.00 or without a wireless charging case for $159.00.
Pricing for the AirPods 3 is currently unknown but the smart money is on Apple keeping the same pricing structure to keep the product competitively priced with competing products, some of which actually offer functionality similar to the AirPods Pro.
