Apple Watch Series 7 Might Be Announced Alongside iPhone 13, But With Limited Quantity Available At Launch

Apple is expected to announce the Apple Watch Series 7 soon, but recent rumors said that manufacturing issues could cause the device to be delayed. Now, a new report by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman suggests that Apple could instead announce the new watch as expected — but you might struggle to buy one.

Writing in the weekly Power On newsletter, Gurman said that Apple is thought to want to announce the Apple Watch Series 7 during a September event, but that some models might ship late or in smaller quantities than would normally be the case.

But if you can’t wait to get the new watch, you may have to. My colleague Debby Wu and I reported that the new display is causing production headaches. When that happens with a new product, there are typically three outcomes: The announcement is delayed until the issues are fixed, the product launches on time in small quantities, or the device is announced on time but goes on sale later.

I’m led to believe that we’ll see an announcement during the usual September event alongside the iPhone, but there will be a mix of the models shipping late or in small quantities.

The Apple Watch Series 7 is expected to come in both 41mm and 45mm configurations with a new angular design and flatter display. It’s those design changes that are thought to be causing manufacturing issues for Apple’s suppliers.

The new wearable will no doubt be the best on the market for Apple iPhone owners, but it now appears that getting one might be difficult. Apple could decide to make some watches available at a later date, while others may simply be available in extremely low quantities.
