Greyhound finally offering mobile tickets in its iOS app, can convert existing tickets

It seems hard to believe there are still companies that don’t allow the option of e-tickets on your iPhone, but until today, intercity bus company Greyhound was one of them …

Previously you had to show a sliver of crushed tree to the driver when boarding, but you can now simply display an e-ticket in the iPhone app instead.

Your smartphone is your personal ticket kiosk – in the palm of your hand.

The future of bus travel is here! We’re making bus travel faster and easier than ever before by offering E-Tickets. Now when you buy your bus ticket on from your desktop or your smartphone, you can choose to have a paperless E-Ticket delivered right to your smartphone – no waiting in lines, no waiting for an email ticket. Spend less time at the bus station and more time enjoying your trip!

When buying your ticket, you simply select the e-ticket option. You’ll then get an alert in the app two hours before boarding, prompting you to check-in. Tick the passengers in the booking, tap the ‘Complete check-in’ button and your e-ticket will be displayed. You then simply show that to the driver on boarding.

Greyhound says that you can also convert existing Will Call ticket to an e-ticket.

  1. Open your booking confirmation email and tap the Get Your E-Ticket button
  2. Go to and enter your confirmation number and last name.  Once your trip confirmation opens simply tap the Get Your E-Ticket button
  3. Road Rewards members can convert to E-Ticket by going to My Trips located in the Manage My Trips menu option on, tap Trip Details and click Get Your E-Ticket

The Greyhound app is a free download from the App Store. Android users will apparently have to wait a while.
