Leaked photos of iPhone 7s Plus dummy model shows glass body likely because of wireless charging support. Here are the details.
With so much hype surrounding the next flagship iPhone, believed to be called the iPhone 8, it is perhaps all too easy to forget that Apple actually has two other high-end smartphones set for release next month.
The iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus would normally garner plenty of attention around this time of year, but instead the pair are almost being ignored given the excitement that is building around the iPhone 8. As a timely reminder that there will be new devices other than the iPhone 8 announced next month, serial leaker Sonny Dickson has provided new pictures which claim to be of an iPhone 7s Plus dummy handset, and they look like how we had imagined they would.
That is, they look rather like the iPhone 7 Plus but with a couple of pretty large differences.
First off, the immediate thing anyone looking will notice is the new glass rear panel, believed to be making a return in order to allow for wireless charging capabilities to debut for the first time on an iPhone. The move away from a metal back is required if that wireless charging is to indeed arrive with the iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus, so its appearance here makes plenty of sense. As does the lack of antenna lines because, again, that glass panel allows for cellular radios to transmit just fine without the need of external antennas to help out.
Beyond that though, everything looks very familiar indeed, especially if you have ever seen an iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus which if you are reading this, we heavily suspect you have. That’s not a bad thing though, Apple’s current iPhones are good looking smartphones, but with the iPhone 8 with all-new design expected to debut alongside the refreshed iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus, we do wonder whether either will get the attention they likely deserve.
