iPhone 8 Plus Vs iPhone 7 Plus Camera Comparison

Now that the iPhone 8 Plus is available for people to buy, the obvious comparison is now being drawn with the iPhone 7 Plus which was, until now at least, the best iPhone ever when used to take photographs or video.

This is of course thanks to its iSight Duo camera system, made up of not one but two lenses. The iPhone 8 Plus also includes the dual-camera design but with some additional bells and whistles thrown in. The question here is obvious – how do the two iPhone units stack up against each other?

That was a question that which EverythingApplePro set about answering by taking an iPhone 7 Plus and an iPhone 8 Plus and running them side-by-side when filming video and taking photographs across a wide range of situations. Importantly, the iPhone 8 Plus’s impressive Portrait Mode additions in the form of Portrait Lighting come into play this year, something the older iPhone 7 Plus simply cannot do.

The comparison created lasts almost twelve minutes and is well worth watching if camera performance is important to you. The iPhone 8 Plus’ camera has us impressed, especially when Portrait Mode is used on the newer iPhone 8 Plus, it is impossible to deny that this smartphone is capable of producing some truly impressive results.

Interestingly, the comparison also notes that the infamous shutter issue with the iPhone 7 / 7 Plus which causes a jitter when moving from a dark scene to a brighter scene continues to exists on the iPhone 8 Plus as well. One would hope that will all those camera improvements, Apple would’ve fix this issue by now.

Whether the iPhone 8 Plus is a good upgrade from last year’s flagship is something only the buyer can decide, and with the iPhone X just around the corner and also set to sport a dual-camera system alongside the TrueDepth camera on front, that may be the better choice if you can stomach the $999 asking price.

For now though, kick back and relax with a drink. You’ve twelve minutes of iPhone camera magic to watch.
