It is becoming increasingly rare for few days to go by without us becoming aware of yet another harmful Android app that is loaded with ransomware, and sent into the wild to create chaos among unwary users. Just a few short days back we found out about a ransomware which communicated over XMPP, and now a new strain, being dubbed Android/Lockerpin. A, seems taking things to a greater, more sophisticated level, by setting or resetting the PIN that is required to give access to the Android device. Device owners are then forced to perform a factory reset and wipe all information from the device, or pay out $ 500 to the destructive people running the malware, which is the really the standard course of action now.
