References To New Titanium, Ceramic Apple Watch Cases Found In watchOS 6

We’re getting closer and closer to the time of year where Apple releases new iPhones and new Apple Watches. The closer we get, the more we learn of the unannounced hardware. Today it’s the Apple Watch that is getting all the attention with iHelpBR finding assets in watchOS 6 betas that point to new Apple Watch models.

According to the report, new Apple Watch setup screens have been found that out two new Apple Watch materials. The first is titanium, while the second is ceramic. Both are materials that traditional high-end mechanical watches have been made from for years and ceramic is a material Apple has used before, too.

This isn’t the first that we’ve heard of new Apple Watch materials for 2019. Earlier this year, Ming-Chi Kuo said that he expected Apple to announce a new ceramic watch and these new screenshots appear to suggest that is indeed accurate.

With these new materials in use, it’s not yet clear what the 2019 Apple Watch lineup would look like. The previous ceramic Apple Watches have been the highest end models selling for considerably more than $1000. We’d also expect the titanium models to sell at a similar price rather than replace the stainless steel material that we’re used to. If titanium does replace stainless steel, don’t expect it to sell at the same price point.

If we’re right, we’ll see four materials offered this year. With 40mm and 44mm versions presumably offered, that’s a lot more SKUs for 2019.
