When it comes to protecting your iPhone X, there are a slew of options to consider, ranging from the ultra-protective Otterbox and Lifeproof, to going completely case-less at the risk of scratching and cracking your $1,000 smartphone.
One option for people who want to preserve the thin and sleek feeling of the iPhone X, while also protecting from scratches and small drops, are ultra-thin cases…
These cases don’t offer the same level of protection as Otterbox, Lifeproof, and other thicker cases do, but they do a great job of preserving the original feel and design of the iPhone X. They generally add very little bulk to the iPhone and are relatively cheap, while protecting from some scratches and scuffs along the way.
My personal choice for an ultra-thin iPhone X, and the one I use on a regular basis, comes from Totallee. It’s only 0.02 inches thick and adds virtually no weight or other bulk to the iPhone X, and it comes in a variety of different colors.
One of the things that stands out about the Totallee ultra-thin case is its grip. It features a slightly brushed finish that makes it easy to hold, unlike some other cases on the markets:
For extra anti-slip grip this case features a slightly brushed finish that helps prevent your iPhone from slipping out of your hands.
One downside about Totallee’s case, and many other ultra-thin cases, is that it leaves the camera bump relatively exposed, meaning it’s still susceptible to scratches and cracks. You do get a slight ring around the sides of the camera, as seen in the top image, but don’t expect any extensive protection here.
Totallee’s ultra-thin case for iPhone X is available in 6 colors, including a sleek ‘Jet Red,’ starting at $9.99.
Of course, Totallee’s case isn’t the only one out there. Another popular choice comes from Tozo. Touted as the ‘Thin Like Naked” case, this one is 0.35mm in thickness with a matte face. You get the same sort of camera protection as Totallee’s, as well.
Tozo’s “Thin Like Naked” case for iPhone X starts at $8.99 and is available in 7 colors, including one with a clear case that lets you see through to the original design of the iPhone X’s back. Rated 4/5 stars from nearly 1,00 reviews.
A pricier option comes from Peel, which sells a neat Jet Black glossy ultra-thin case. Peel’s case costs $24.9 and is available in 7 colors. Peel cases are generally popular and well-received.
A fourth option for ultra-thin iPhone X cases from Torras. The company’s Slim Fit Shell case features a “silky feel” and also leaves the camera bump exposed. Torras’ case starts at $9.98 and is available in 6 colors, rated 4.5/5 stars on Amazon with over 200 reviews.
Offering a different take on the ultra-thin phenomenon is Totallee’s ultra-thin leather case. These cases aren’t quite as thin as others and have a bit more heft to them, but they still do a great job of maintaining the ultra-sleek form factor of the iPhone X. Totallee’s ultra-thin leather cases are $24.99.
When it comes right down to it, many of these cases are nearly the same and therefore, which one you pick depends largely on colors and what kind of material you’re looking for. Personally, I’m fond of the Totallee model and I haven’t had any issues, but you can’t go wrong with any of the aforementioned options.
In general, ultra-thin cases aren’t nearly as protective as other cases out there. Don’t expect an ultra-thin case to save your iPhone X from a serious drop and if you know you’re going to be in harsh or risky conditions, it may be better to try another case. These cases generally serve as a way for users to get the near-naked feel of their device without risking scratching up the back glass.
